TNG has recently released a major upgrade to the website database software. I just finished installing it so if you come across any access errors, please let me know. I’m also still looking at changing the site layout, combining the blog with the database… but it’s slow process at the moment as my focus is on part-time college courses + full-time work. No time to create trouble, no rest for the wicked…
Happy spring everyone!
I’ve been busy with college courses, web design clients & job hunting. The little bit of genealogy research I’ve collected is Estacaille, maybe a tiny bit of Braniff and Judas.I’ve been fortunate the last couple of months to have received a CD of old Judas/Baker photos collected by a researching cousin who has since passed on. I’ve also received an old photo album from an aunt in the same branch. I’m working towards scanning in the photos, but it’s taking a bit of work as the album pages are usually bigger than the scanning bed of my multi-function printer/scanner/fax.
I’ve just finished uploading my latest GEDCOM. As far as I can see, the links from the media/photos/histories still works without any errors. Let me know if you come across any errors, including any errors in the “living” flag. I’m constantly on the watch for this in the site and my offline database.
I updated the database software about a month ago. No big surprises there, just minor adjustments. I want to work on the actual database site design, but don’t look for it too soon as I’ll need to put on my thinking cap and learn how to customize the design coding.
S.
I was in the database tonight looking up some Judas info when I discovered that after my last major upload some of the family IDs changed, therefore messing up some of the document links to families. I’ve gone through the directory and I think I’ve got that problem solved now. Sorry for any confusion.
Hi everyone!
I just finished installing a major update to the database software, but I’ve run into a little snag in the menu links – some of them want to point to the wrong spot and may produce an error. I’m gonna try & do a temp fix, which may look a bit strange, while I try and get everything working kosher again.
I’ve just finished updating the database with my latest GEDCOM. This includes a major update of the Schmudlach genealogy which I’ve been discussing for the past year or so. It looks like all the photos/documents still match to the proper IDs.
The “living” flags on some people may be in error. Please let me know of any errors you do find. I work hard on the data to try and keep this accurate, but some records still slip through when I don’t have any death records.
The software has also been upgraded to the latest version.
Cousin Faustine passed away January 5, 2010 in Oliver, British Columbia. She was 90 years old and had been suffering from declining health the past few years.
My apologies to anyone who was trying to use a language other than English in the database and ending up with a nasty little error. I discovered the problem myself today after testing the upgrade. I’ve fixed the problem for the installed language packs.
I have other language packs available. If you would prefer another installed, please let me know. Just be aware that the language change only affects the software tabs, and not the documents that I’ve uploaded – they will still be English. To translate those, try viewing the site using Google’s translate service.
Whats new? Not much. Between working full-time at my new job (thankfull that I have a job in this economy) and working evenings on client websites & slowly improving my health problems from my last job, well, I haven’t done much genealogy research. Yesterday I mailed away an application to Wisconsin state vital records to see if I can get death records for my 3rd great-grandfather Johann Judas. Because I am asking for an uncertified record, the form states that any response can take up to 6 months. Fingers crossed that it comes in just a month or two.
Today, I’ve uploaded the latest version of the database software, which fortunately fixed a problem I was having with Google maps. I’ve also uploaded some new Judas photos including the obituary info for my grand-uncle Raymond Judas. You can check out any new additions by visiting the “What’s New” page.
I haven’t yet been brave and upload a new version of my GEDCOM – I’m just a bit worried that importing it will cause my media/document links to fail.
If you haven’t checked out the Estacaille Ning social site, please come by. We’ve got new members in the last month or so.
Hi everyone!
Just a quick note to let you all know that I just purchased an upgrade to the TNG database software. So if you find the database unavailable during the next few days – don’t panic – I’m still here. The upgrade should go smoothly, but Murphy’s Law sometimes kicks in
The database move is complete! You can find the link under the tab “Searchable Database” or click here to go directly.
There are a couple of bugs that I need to fix.
First, the links from the photos/histories/documents to each person has disappeared. I will have to set each one manually (again, sigh!).
The list of users and passwords also didn’t transfer over.
